Our awesome year

Many of you have read my amazing Hubby's blog posting about fulfilling his dream of golf!
We are both so excited and are looking forward to what God has planned for us!
But I thought you all might be interested in how we got here and the story behind the dream.

As Many of you know Matthew and I met at Southeastern. My first impression of Matthew was one of astonishment. Most eighteen year olds I knew played way too many video games and didn't take anything in life seriously. Not Matthew. He nonchalantly told me that he had left a career (full ride scholarship) in golf because he believed God was calling him to the mission field. He didn't sound bitter but at peace and thankful for the calling. The thing that got me about Matthew though was his passion. He always gives a 110% into everything he does and watching God work through him has been one of the best blessings in my life.

So fast forward I am now married to this amazing man (YAY!) and we will have our three year anniversary this summer (:
Last January as most of you know Matthew and I went overseas to serve.
While we were over there God began working on our hearts about platforms, (what jobs did we want to do wherever we lived whether Germany, Spain, or the US).
Slowly Matthew began to talk about golf again.
I had always known that God would use Matthew's amazing talent in some way or another for His glory but I wasn't sure how. Though Matthew kept saying he wouldn't play again, but God didn't give him this talent for no reason and I knew Matthew's passion for golf would at some point have to be used (:

Finally after three months of praying and talking about it, Matthew came to me one beautiful morning in Spain looked me straight in the eye and said, "Sam I think I am going to go back to Golf." Inside I leaped for joy, he had found his platform and his passion!

Matthew plans on working really hard , getting sponsors, and using this gift for Gods glory. And the perfect thing about golf is that it can be played almost anywhere in the world, leaving the door open for God to send us anywhere (:
Matthews heart for missions and love of golf are now combined and it's been a beautiful journey! But the best part is that it's only the beginning!
Thank you for our continued prayers and support! We love you all!

Golf and the Future

Most of my life up until 2009 consisted of day in and day out golf. Now 4 years later I have gotten married to my lovely wife, Samantha. We have lived overseas and now about to graduate college. For the last year we have thought a lot about what life in golf would be like and what it would take. That being said, I have the exciting opportunity to be playing golf once again starting this summer. I have been practicing and getting back into the groove of full time golf, but it has been hard with school and work. I am currently working as a Computer Technician and I have to say it's great. This plan of playing golf, of course, is nothing without hard work and a plan.

I plan on practicing daily upon graduation and tune my golf game as much as possible. There is a Web.com tournament here in Raleigh the 3rd week of June, which I will try and qualify for. Now, the Web.com tour is one step under the PGA Tour, so this is no small tournament. This in itself is not an easy task, there will be a one day Monday qualifier which will cost $450 just for the chance to qualify for the actual tournament. This is a great and exciting opportunity for myself and Samantha. This chance to play and the chance to play in other tournaments comes at an expense. If not for this being in our city, the tournament would come with more expenses: gas, hotel, food, etc. I am currently looking for sponsors in order to fulfill these needs. Whether you own a company or work for one or want to give on your own to help fund our journey, we will be forever grateful. Along with funding, one of the things sponsors do is advertise their company or name on clothing, bags, etc. If you or your company feel like this is something you would rather do, please do! If there is anyway for me to advertise your business or anything else I am more than willing. I will add a link to our Paypal account for donations if you feel like you would be willing to do so or if you would like our address to send clothing or donations email me at --mhatchett291@gmail.com--.

First things first is this tournament in June. I am practicing and will be practicing as hard as I can to play my best. This is the first step in our journey and this will be our focus until this time comes. Before any of these other steps can happen (more tournaments and travel) I will see how my game stands up to the rest.

If you have any questions or concerns please email or contact me. I would love for those who are willing to be a part of this journey we are undertaking. Thank you in advance for all of your support and help. Follow this blog to keep up with updates from this process! Please share this with everyone you know, we will need all the support we can get!
