Our Son - Update - more than blessed

My twin sister and I are accountability partners, this Summer we have both been encouraging and urging one another to learn and memorize verses about trusting God. My favorite one I shared a while back on FB...

"Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes for its leaves remain green. and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear Fruit." Jer. 17:7-8

We have been discussing the fact that we live in a fallen and sinful world, because of this we will spend most of our lives as Christ followers in drought or heat seasons. He will grow us and mold us into his image. These times will never be easy, however they have a purpose. Savannah wisely tells me that His purpose is ultimately to glorify Himself and make us holy, meaning that His plans will rarely match ours.
That said God is teaching Matthew and I patience and trust in this period of waiting for our son. We have been in contact with our baby boy's case worker, since we are not in the same state as him the process take much much longer. We have to go through and ICPC, which is an agreement between the two states (since each state has their own adoption laws), part of this is getting a home study done and getting paperwork through the courts system. Right now we are waiting for a court date to get a judge to sign off on expediting this process. We wish we could give a time period of when he might come home but like in most adoptions it is just impossible to know.
Please join us in praying that the process can be expedited so that he might be home as soon as possible. We are told he is learning how to scoot around and play more. He does struggle with some illness so be praying for his health and strength.
The parental rights have also been given up, and those papers need to be taken to court also and get signed by a judge.
God has given us a peace about our son. In my talks with Savannah and Matthew we have many times come back to reminding each other that Thanksgiving is so important in waiting periods. When we are growing, hurting, waiting, we have to remember that we are more than blessed just to know Christ. By God's grace we have been accepted and loved by the One and Only Perfectly Holy God.
This world has very little to offer in happiness in comparison to what our Father in Heaven has already provided for us.
If you do not know Christ my heart goes out to you, for in this fallen world we as Christians have hope, that this life is the worst one we will ever live. When we are with my Father in heaven there will be no hurt, no pain, and we will be eternally in joy and happiness.
So we are grateful that the process is moving, even slowly, we are thankful that God has so graciously chosen us to be this child's parents. We look forward to the day we get to bring our son home. In the meantime please join us in prayer for God's glory to be shown in this situation, for the paperwork to go through the system quickly, and for our son's health. Thank you for your prayers and support!

"Father to the Fatherless"

"For you id not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, "Abba, Father!" The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God."

"Father to the fatherless and protector of the widows, is God in His holy habitation." Psalm 68:5

"Religion that is pure and holy before God, The FATHER, is this: to care for orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world."

The most tragic story on earth is also the most beautiful, The story of God sending his one and only Son to an underserving sinful world to live the life we could not live and make the sacrifice that we should have made. The Perfect, Holy, Son of God died in our place that we might become adopted sons and daughters of Christ.
I will never get over this truth, every time I think on it I cannot help but praise my Father. No one on this earth deserves God's grace, especially myself. We are all orphans and God chose as His plan of salvation to bring us into His family. He calls us to adoption.

Matthew and I are blessed to both be surrounded by adoption our entire lives. I have grown up with a huge burdens for orphans and the need for adoption. Because the picture of adoption is the picture of the gospel. I will never lose the memories of the sweet unforgettable moments of adoption, of waiting in the courtroom as my Aunt and Uncle told a judge they would forever care for my beloved cousins, of watching another cousin bring home a baby boy, sweet and in need of a home, seeing the eyes of my sister and brother in law brimming with joy as they broke the news of their adoption from Ethiopia to us.
Stephanie and Aaron (my sister and brother in law) are currently packing their bags to head to Ethiopia and meet their baby girl Ryah for the first time. How I wish I could be there for that moment, it is irreplaceable, Stephanie and Aaron have been waiting for three years for this moment. They have time after time run into trials, (because where Christ is working you can be certain evil will try to pervade)    But they have persevered, never wavering from what God has called them to do. Who God is and His heart has show through Stephanie and Aaron, I know this time has been unbearable at times but it has also been Something Beautiful (the name of stephanie's blog ;) ).

Six months ago Matthew and I were presented with the opportunity for the adoption of a baby boy,  however, it was just as quickly taken away. Broken hearted we began to pray over this boy, that he would grow in a Christian family to know the Father as his Lord and Savior, that he would be healthy and strong, and loved. a few weeks ago we were again notified that this baby would most likely soon be up for adoption. As this opportunity seemed to be true we began going to the Lord and mentors for guidance.
After a long day of talking and praying Matthew had just gotten off the phone and walked into the living, sat down in front of me eyes brimming with tears he told me, "Sam we can do this, we can bring him home." I thought my heart would burst with joy! We're adopting!  from that moment we decided we would start the process to bring our baby home! God has not only burdened our hearts but neither one of us can believe how much we love this baby boy and we have never even met him.
The process has just begun, already we have hit a few walls in the system but we believe God will guide us through the process. What we ask is for your prayers as we begin this new chapter. We want to bring our baby home as soon as possible! So join us in this exciting time where we get to have this amazing opportunity to love a child of the King. Pray that we would take the right steps and talk to the right people.
Also be praying for our baby, though he is stable and healthy presently, he does have some health issues. By God's grace he has been placed with a foster family that is medically knowledgable and very cabale of caring for him. Pray that he would be protected by God's grace and for his future, that he would grow to be a hero of the faith, that he would grow strong, a beautiful, full of grace, child of the King.
Thank you for keeping our family in your prayers! We are beyond excited and ready for our new addition!

Our awesome year

Many of you have read my amazing Hubby's blog posting about fulfilling his dream of golf!
We are both so excited and are looking forward to what God has planned for us!
But I thought you all might be interested in how we got here and the story behind the dream.

As Many of you know Matthew and I met at Southeastern. My first impression of Matthew was one of astonishment. Most eighteen year olds I knew played way too many video games and didn't take anything in life seriously. Not Matthew. He nonchalantly told me that he had left a career (full ride scholarship) in golf because he believed God was calling him to the mission field. He didn't sound bitter but at peace and thankful for the calling. The thing that got me about Matthew though was his passion. He always gives a 110% into everything he does and watching God work through him has been one of the best blessings in my life.

So fast forward I am now married to this amazing man (YAY!) and we will have our three year anniversary this summer (:
Last January as most of you know Matthew and I went overseas to serve.
While we were over there God began working on our hearts about platforms, (what jobs did we want to do wherever we lived whether Germany, Spain, or the US).
Slowly Matthew began to talk about golf again.
I had always known that God would use Matthew's amazing talent in some way or another for His glory but I wasn't sure how. Though Matthew kept saying he wouldn't play again, but God didn't give him this talent for no reason and I knew Matthew's passion for golf would at some point have to be used (:

Finally after three months of praying and talking about it, Matthew came to me one beautiful morning in Spain looked me straight in the eye and said, "Sam I think I am going to go back to Golf." Inside I leaped for joy, he had found his platform and his passion!

Matthew plans on working really hard , getting sponsors, and using this gift for Gods glory. And the perfect thing about golf is that it can be played almost anywhere in the world, leaving the door open for God to send us anywhere (:
Matthews heart for missions and love of golf are now combined and it's been a beautiful journey! But the best part is that it's only the beginning!
Thank you for our continued prayers and support! We love you all!

Golf and the Future

Most of my life up until 2009 consisted of day in and day out golf. Now 4 years later I have gotten married to my lovely wife, Samantha. We have lived overseas and now about to graduate college. For the last year we have thought a lot about what life in golf would be like and what it would take. That being said, I have the exciting opportunity to be playing golf once again starting this summer. I have been practicing and getting back into the groove of full time golf, but it has been hard with school and work. I am currently working as a Computer Technician and I have to say it's great. This plan of playing golf, of course, is nothing without hard work and a plan.

I plan on practicing daily upon graduation and tune my golf game as much as possible. There is a Web.com tournament here in Raleigh the 3rd week of June, which I will try and qualify for. Now, the Web.com tour is one step under the PGA Tour, so this is no small tournament. This in itself is not an easy task, there will be a one day Monday qualifier which will cost $450 just for the chance to qualify for the actual tournament. This is a great and exciting opportunity for myself and Samantha. This chance to play and the chance to play in other tournaments comes at an expense. If not for this being in our city, the tournament would come with more expenses: gas, hotel, food, etc. I am currently looking for sponsors in order to fulfill these needs. Whether you own a company or work for one or want to give on your own to help fund our journey, we will be forever grateful. Along with funding, one of the things sponsors do is advertise their company or name on clothing, bags, etc. If you or your company feel like this is something you would rather do, please do! If there is anyway for me to advertise your business or anything else I am more than willing. I will add a link to our Paypal account for donations if you feel like you would be willing to do so or if you would like our address to send clothing or donations email me at --mhatchett291@gmail.com--.

First things first is this tournament in June. I am practicing and will be practicing as hard as I can to play my best. This is the first step in our journey and this will be our focus until this time comes. Before any of these other steps can happen (more tournaments and travel) I will see how my game stands up to the rest.

If you have any questions or concerns please email or contact me. I would love for those who are willing to be a part of this journey we are undertaking. Thank you in advance for all of your support and help. Follow this blog to keep up with updates from this process! Please share this with everyone you know, we will need all the support we can get!

Missing Haiti

Stepping of the plane I saw the mountains, the reached far and wide and at their end their laid the beautiful ocean. It was an hour and a half drive to Canaan Orphanage but more than worth it. Haiti is still recovering from the earth quake, All of Haiti is hurting. In need of a Savior.
Canaan is a light of hope. The kids there are full of the Joy of the Lord! their living conditions are still hard but that doesn't seem to phase them a bit. They are beautiful and loving. Our team of almost forty had the oppurtunirty to do many projects as well as have a soccer camp and VBS for the kids during the week.
I served on the Nursery team and LOVED it! These babies were rarely held for long periods and not given much attention. Not because the people there don't want to, there is just so many others things that must be done, other than that these babies are healthy and strong. We enjoyed every minute that we got to be with them. The baby I had mos tof the time was Deborah, she was as sweet as she could be! She would fall asleep on my chest while I sang to her, and laughed so sweetly when I would pretend to nibble on her fingers.
The kids are also wonderful, they love to sing and dance! And they do both extremely well (they aught me a few things)! These kids are the future of Haiti! and what a blessing it is to know that they are so strong in their walks with Christ, we feel so blessed to have been able to encourage them and love on them.
Haiti needs Jesus. These people are poor, sick, starving, and dying every day, but their is an even greater neeed: Christ. And we want to bring them the good news! This past week there was also a Hiking team that went to a lot of the churches to hand out Bible and see if there was a need for antoher clinic around any of the churches. And there was. These churches are trying their best to reach their community with the gospel, we were able to give them Bibles in the native language: Creole! '
It is so obvious that God is doing great things in Haiti. But there is still a huge need! This trip opened our eyes, showing us God's amazing sovereignty and grace. We are so blessed and I pray that because of that we would bless those who are in need.
Please keep supporting and praying for Haiti!
This trip was incredible and God did amazing things. We are so thankful to be used by Him.
Thank you to all those who were used by God in supporting us! We could not be more grateful! We know that we could not have done this without God. We love you all and are so thankful you are a part of our lives!
