Stepping of the plane I saw the mountains, the reached far and wide and at their end their laid the beautiful ocean. It was an hour and a half drive to Canaan Orphanage but more than worth it. Haiti is still recovering from the earth quake, All of Haiti is hurting. In need of a Savior.
Canaan is a light of hope. The kids there are full of the Joy of the Lord! their living conditions are still hard but that doesn't seem to phase them a bit. They are beautiful and loving. Our team of almost forty had the oppurtunirty to do many projects as well as have a soccer camp and VBS for the kids during the week.
I served on the Nursery team and LOVED it! These babies were rarely held for long periods and not given much attention. Not because the people there don't want to, there is just so many others things that must be done, other than that these babies are healthy and strong. We enjoyed every minute that we got to be with them. The baby I had mos tof the time was Deborah, she was as sweet as she could be! She would fall asleep on my chest while I sang to her, and laughed so sweetly when I would pretend to nibble on her fingers.
The kids are also wonderful, they love to sing and dance! And they do both extremely well (they aught me a few things)! These kids are the future of Haiti! and what a blessing it is to know that they are so strong in their walks with Christ, we feel so blessed to have been able to encourage them and love on them.
Haiti needs Jesus. These people are poor, sick, starving, and dying every day, but their is an even greater neeed: Christ. And we want to bring them the good news! This past week there was also a Hiking team that went to a lot of the churches to hand out Bible and see if there was a need for antoher clinic around any of the churches. And there was. These churches are trying their best to reach their community with the gospel, we were able to give them Bibles in the native language: Creole! '
It is so obvious that God is doing great things in Haiti. But there is still a huge need! This trip opened our eyes, showing us God's amazing sovereignty and grace. We are so blessed and I pray that because of that we would bless those who are in need.
Please keep supporting and praying for Haiti!
This trip was incredible and God did amazing things. We are so thankful to be used by Him.
Thank you to all those who were used by God in supporting us! We could not be more grateful! We know that we could not have done this without God. We love you all and are so thankful you are a part of our lives!
